Dr. Konstantinos Gakis is an experienced educator and consultant, now a Visiting Scholar of the Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering at the University of the Florida, where he teaches Decision Support Systems.

Background

 

 

His academic background includes engineering, operations research and e-governance. He is a Professional Engineer in Greece. He studied Mechanical Engineering at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and received a Ph.D. in Operations Research from the University of Florida. He also completed an Executive Master in e-Governance program, offered by the Ecole Polytechnique Federale de Lausanne in Switzerland.

Research Agenda

 

 

His active research agenda includes:modelling multi-contestant race-type athletic games and betting schemes;optimization in stochastic processes parameter estimation;variations of the multi-trip vehicle-routing problem for real-world applications;energy systems: smart grid and renewable energies optimization models;research on the effects of technological changes (mainly ICTs and e-governance) on work organization.

Projects

 

 

His professional background mainly includes management and regional development consulting. He has several years of work overseas, includingthree years of experience in the banking sector and several years of public sector consulting in transition countries (Czech Republic, Bulgaria, Serbia and Syria).

His experiences are from diverse environments that demand the delivery of timely and high quality work.
